Located in the remote natural forest of Harads, 90km north-west of Luleå, the Tree Hotel is the childhood dream of Kent and Brittas Lindvall which has now very cleverly become reality. With extraordinary tree rooms created by some of Scandinavia’s top leading architects, a stay here can be as relaxing or as adventurous as you wish.

Without a doubt, it will be a truly unforgettable experience. The small village of Jukkasjärvi is located 284km north of Harads, and it is here that each winter the worldfamous ICEHOTEL is created out of just snow and ice. A momentary art project, a stay here and an overnight in sub-zero temperatures is one that will be engraved on your memory for a lifetime and a must when working down any bucket list.

Day 1 – UK – Tree Hotel

On arrival at Luleå airport, you will be transferred to the Treehotel in Harads. The small village of Harads, situated in the municipality of Boden, is well renowned for its impressive surroundings and the beautiful Lule River Valley.

After check-in, you will have some free time to explore the grounds of Tree Hotel and the surrounding forest, or simply to enjoy the view and tranquillity from your room.

Day 2 – Tree Hotel

Day at leisure in Harads, time to relax at the Forest Sauna (payable locally) or to book an activity – a kick-sled tour around Harads, snowshoe tour, ice-fishing, dog-sled tour and a snowmobile safari are some of the excursions on offer. We can discuss the various options with you, please ask for more details.

Day 3 – Ice Hotel

After breakfast, transfer (c.45-minutes) from the Tree Hotel to Boden train station. From here, you will travel to Kiruna crossing the Arctic Circle at 66°N en-route. The train journey from Boden to Kiruna takes c.3 hours 20 minutes. On arrival at Kiruna train station, we will transfer you to the ICEHOTEL in the village of Jukkasjärvi (c.15 minutes drive). After check-in, you will have free time to explore the individually designed rooms within the cold accommodation – don’t forget your camera!

Located in the small village of Jukkasjärvi, in the heart of the unspoiled wilderness of  Swedish Lapland, stands the world famous and original ICEHOTEL.

This evening, why not pre book an optional excursion, we recommend the Northern Lights tour by shared snowmobile (our favourite activity at the ICEHOTEL). This 4 hour excursion takes you on a journey through the Arctic wilderness and includes a two course traditional evening meal. Away from the artificial lights of the village, you heighten your chance of seeing the Lady Aurora’s colourful waves in the skies above.

Another favourite is the Trap Line Husky Dog Sled excursion with light lunch where you learn how to drive your own dog sled.

For dinner, unless you are on an excursion you have the choice of two restaurants; the Ice hotel Restaurant or the Homestead which is a short walk into the village and more casual. We will make table reservations for you and you can settle your bill upon check out.

Later you will no doubt wish to enjoy a drink in the Ice Bar and maybe you will see the Northern Lights in the sky on your way back to your room.

Tonight will be the highlight of your trip, your chance to sleep on Ice in your special Ice Room, or why not upgrade to an Art Suite! You will be issued with your sleeping bag and guided on how to get a good night sleep. We will also provide a guide and tips on what to pack and how to make the most of your experience before you travel.

Day 4 – Ice Hotel

After breakfast, why not add on an optional dog sled tour through the winter wonderland. This 1 ½ hour adventure takes you across the frozen river, through snow covered forests to a wilderness hut where coffee and cake is served around a camp fire.  If you prefer why not consider the longer 4 hour ‘Trap Line’ excursion where you learn how to drive your own sled.

Return to the famous ICEHOTEL for some free time before departing on another optional excursion.  We recommend Raidu – Encounter with the Reindeer excursion where you will learn about the Sámi culture and their traditional way of life. You will also have the chance to feed the reindeer and take a sled ride (around a track). A traditional light lunch is included if you choose this activity.

Evening at leisure – opportunity to book a Northern Lights tour, relax in the warmth of your warm room or enjoy a cold drink in the ICEBAR.  We can also take care of dinner reservations for you.

Tonight you will stay in your ‘warm’ accommodation, on site. These take the form of standard hotel rooms, or chalets and we can discuss the options with you. Some are 2-bedroom units which are great for families or friends.

Day 5 – Home

Sadly, today it is time to leave magical Swedish Lapland. After breakfast you may have some free time depending on your flight arrangements before your transfer to Kiruna airport for your flight via Stockholm back to London.
